I think you should save all the angry letters from Clifton for one great big issue. Wouldn't that make for an interesting read! Wouldn't that make Clifton look like a positive, progressive town full of nice people?

I wouldn't give a single one of those "haters" any satisfaction in publishing any of their hate mail. Instead, list all the names of the people who actually see fit to sign their name to their "angry letter" as potential people who could start their own Clifton newspaper, and ask the readers to direct any further complaints to them.

Even so, whatever poor soul deems it important enough to take on a task like that will have to endure the same type of wrath that you have. I'm sure the complaints will keep rolling in.

People whine that they don't have a newspaper, but if someone IS naive enough to try to start a new one, they'll whine that it's not good enough. Just like they have for the last 50 years or so. And then that new person will be the benefactor of all that glorious anger and hostility! No wonder the Clifton newspaper has changed hands so many times over the years.

It's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved, but at least all that unwarranted anger wouldn't be directed toward you anymore. Hey, at least you tried. Which is more than any single one of the authors of those angry letters can say!

Since there were no willing victims eager enough to take on The Clifton-Clyde Tribune when you offered it for sale, that seems to be proof enough that people know what a bad idea it is to try and start a business in a town with one foot in the grave and the other one slippin' around on a banana peel.

Look at the bright side, folks. You may not have a newspaper, and your downtown may be able to pass for a ghost town, but at least you have that fancy place Wonder Land to fall back on and save your community!

Too bad Clyde doesn't have one of those junk-filled atrocities up their sleeve to help save the day. Instead, they rely on community involvement, community support, an economic development plan, and a Clyde Beautification project. Some might say it's an invisible theme park called "Logic Land."

And if you aren't happy with the amount of news in the Washington Paper, there's always The Clyde Republican. They're still willing to print your news, or what's left of it anyway.
