Celebrity in town! Please be respectful
Update! An i-Reporter got this picture of Toby Keith (top middle) and a group of fans at The Horn on Monday night. Wow. Leon and Michelle are really pulling in the big-time customers now! And I sure appreciate the efforts of yet another i-Reporter submission of a photo I would not have been able to get!
Star country music recording artist Toby Keith is evidently in Washington on a hunting outing. I hope that if anyone happens to see him, or be in a restaurant or convenience store that he comes to, that they respect his privacy and give him some space. Please, please, please?
I think it is cool that he is in town, but I personally won’t be trying to go after a picture of him. I don’t want to be confused with the paparazzi. However, if someone does happen to have their picture taken with him, I sure would appreciate being able to run it in the paper. It is not every day that a country music singer of his caliber comes to town. (Can someone line him up for next year’s county fair? Just kidding.)
I’m not often starstruck, but I’m probably as curious as anyone when someone famous is around. But it must stink at times to be a celebrity because I imagine it would be tough to go places and try to enjoy yourself without being mobbed by fans. Of course, without fans, they aren’t celebrities. So it is probably a mixed bag.
Anyway, keep your eyes open, but please be kind and respectful if you run into him so he can have a positive impression of Washington County. In other words, please be the friendly small town Kansan like you always are. And if you know who he is here with, please don’t bother them either. I think it is neat that someone local can host Toby Keith, so you shouldn’t be calling them or anything either.
And hopefully Toby Keith bags a big buck and comes back again!

Dan is gone at a board meeting, but he asked me to delete the disagreement. He asks as he has before,that people do not fight amongst each other on this blog or call each other out. That is not what this blog is meant for.
Ok if you dont want us to voice our opinions DAN then my suggestion to this blog is to do a better job scanning the idiotic comments made by some of these people. Its a bit ridiculous

Trust me,Dan spends a lot of time monitoring this blog. A lot of time that I would love to have with him and so would his kids. Do you honestly expect him to spend his every waking hour monitoring peoples comments that should be adult enough to carry on a conversion of their own without his intervention?I’m sorry if this is coming of rude,it just gets frustrating sometimes. Like I said earlier, Dan is at a board mtg. in Topeka so he wasn’t able to monitor the blog today. I had to call his cell phone and interrupt the mtg. to see what he wanted me to do about the blog.

O dont get me wrong I was star struck to and did go to the bar and have a beer just like the rest of the 1200 here LOL . But looking at the pick I would not even looked twice if he was walking down the st. If he had a cowboy hat on I would have looked twice at him.

First of all I would like to make it clear that I do believe in free speech even if the speaker is clearly an idiot.
Second of all I understand client confidentiality and I have not broken that. It just so happens that the client was talking about the breakfast he had at Swirly Top. He was in no way associated with Toby Keith and neither am I. He was simply sharing a tidbit of news with a group of familiar people and that is what I did when I sent it out on my phone. As my name clearly states I am not from around here and even though I have lived in Washington for over 5 years I have found that you people are not extremely friendly to strangers and thus I have not befriended many of you. Of the messages that I sent only 10 of the recipients live in Washington county. Of those 10 people 1 was my husband, two were to my mom and my dad, three of them were to my cousins so that means that there were only 4 that were not related to me that live in Washington County.
As far as Willie Aames – I in no way violated client confidentiality with him. You do not know if I was cutting his hair, doing legal work, sticking a tube up his arss in a colonoscopy, waiting on him in a private business or what. If you recall Dan posed the question of who is the most famous person or persons you have ever met, I was simply answering his query.
You are completely uninformed and that is made obvious not only by the stupidity of your posts but by the fact that you spout off about stuff that you don’t really know about. Willie Aames left Olathe about 10 years ago and is living in Oregon with his wife Maylo and their daughter Harley. His accomplishment that he is most proud of is his production of Bible Man and it is too bad that more people have seen 8 is Enough and Charles in Charge than that.
Regarding your comment on firing me – you will need an education before you will ever be my boss (or anybody’s boss for that matter). I am sorry that this blog has to be polluted by your vile mannerisms.

I was told when I was working on my car and drove over to see if it was true . By the time I got over thier it was packed and about 15 outside in the cold . So by the time I put it up on here it was to late the word was out . Regards to you to my dear .

well now that were changing the subject, I just want to say what an awesome job everyone did at the
Linn elementary christmas program tonight!!!!! In this day and time it’s nice to know my children can go to a school where we still have a CHRISTMAS program and not a holiday celebration, Anativity scene with Santa Claus!!! Thank you Mrs. Pachta for a wonderful job
I was at the program tonight too. Very good. Marilyn always does a good job putting those programs together.
And I agree. I do prefer they call it a CHRISTMAS program.
And Santa surprised all the kids by coming out at the end of the program. My son is actually terrified of him. So I was wondering if Eli would freak out if Santa came by him, but he did fine… but he quickly came over by me and wanted to get the heck out of there instead of visit Santa! Fun.
Oh. And I’m back.
Not too big a deal that I had to be called out of my board meeting today. I was getting sleepy after a good lunch so it was nice to have a breather.
But remember folks, I enjoy the fact that you all enjoy following the blog, but I just want to make sure we all keep it civil. I think most of you are probably good people, but get a little carried away at times. Hence my new term – “blog rage.”

Ok here it goes my turn to talk about this subject just because it upsetting my family.
I am sorry if people think they were treated bad that night and think i am a jerk..Talking to the regulars they were impressed that we added a second bartender to handle the bar. With all the commotion I myself booked a party of 10 to 12. Not a uncommon thing. The party changed their minds and asked to use the A & J Steak Shack instead. Not uncommon. The following day we had a private party of 60 in the steak shack for lunch. The following night we had a private party of 22 in the Steak Shack. But nobodys worked up over all that.
Yes I did ask a table of good costomers to change tables and for this I bought them a round of drinks.
Why did i do this? The party asked for a tables that they could be to themselves and enjoy their dinner.
When the party arrived they decided to sit on the other side.
As for the tin foil on the door it was asked for as i will do for anybody i try to accomodate. Sorry did not have a mini blind on hand to hang up.
Sorry if you did not get to meet TK but this was not my call it was his and the group he was with.
Was The Horn ready for a costomer of this calliber? Yes he was no diffrent from the Hollenburg volunteers.
Which had a private party and closed the blinds.

I’m sure if anyone on here pre-arranged a party at the Horn Leon would make any reasonable requests you had. Let’s put it this way, Leon had a guaranteed customer that night (due to reservation), he should make that customer a priority. It’s called being a good business owner. He took care of his regulars by buying them drinks, which looks like settled it. Move on now.
