Sick

Posted by Backroadsnews on Dec 10, 2008 in Uncategorized |

I’ve heard there is a stomach virus going through our schools. I hear the illness is hitting Hanover schools and possibly Washington too. I know my youngest son threw up for the first time in his life last night.

Usually this sort of thing really spreads during the TVL basketball tourney in January, so this seems a bit early. Is this flu bug hitting the whole county? Or just parts?

We’ve noticed a few cases in Clay Center as well. Please remember to stay away from the hospitals and nursing homes if you have this virus, as it can be deadly to the elderly and infirm. If you know of someone who is a shut in, check with them regularly to be sure they are ok. Excessive vomiting can dehydrate someone quickly, as can diarrhea. Shock can quickly follow, leading to death. If you have the virus, please drink fluids (slowly), and get lots of rest. If you are having a lot of diarrhea or vomiting, call your doctor.

Summer got sick on the bus a couple weeks ago coming home from their bball game along with another boy bball player as well. She had the stomach flu along with a fever and of course the other. Luckily we didn’t get it that bad but I ended up with a low grade fever and upset stomach. I drink so much water during the day, I think I just flush everything out of my system.

  • Hanover Mom says:

I heard on Monday that a lot of kids from both St. John’s and Hanover Public stayed home, and a lot more got sick at school and had to have parents pick them up. A couple threw up either at school or on a bus.

Just another reason why both teachers and bus drivers are very underpaid.
