School board races finalized

The open positions on the USD 223 Barnes-Hanover-Linn school board were filled with write-in candidates.
Position 1
Sara Beikman – 59
Justin Ohlde – 52
Position 2
Steve Ohlde – 59
Position 6
Marge Schlabach – 12

I’ll quote Han Solo for the new USD 223 board members:
“Good luck. You’re gonna need it.”
I think that applies for any board memeber in any district with the proposed budget cuts. Change will be good. New ideas and different energy is good.
Change is good. I agree.
But the USD 223 board needs to find a way to improve relations and cooperation between the two sides of the district.
They lost an outstanding superintendent. Hopefully they can find a good one and forget which side of the district they represent and work together for USD 223.
LOL do you really think that will happen?
But you are right. We need people that want the best for the kids no matter which school they go to. I wish them both the best and want them to remember who they are to represent.
What the school board members need to understand and more importantly accept is that the Linn and Hanover attendance centers are joined together at the hip financially. In fact all patrons and faculty in 223 needs to accept and understand this with declining student numbers. Each school board member not only needs to make sure that their “home” attendance center is meeting the expectations for the kids/parents, but it is just as important that they need to make sure that the”other” attendance center is meeting the expectations for the kids/parents, because what happens at the “other” attendance center will eventually effect their “home” attendance center financially.
