The earth is better with out all of us on it is it not . :) My point is its about that someone that got murdered in church will we all should feel safe right . He went w/o his vest and w/o his bodyguard . This was a permeated thing the killer planed this . Murder is NOT legal last time I looked right ?

  • this is a joke says:

Yes you BR feel better w/o him but think what would happen if he did not do what he does . All of the back ally things that will happen and all the wemen that will have to go to a back yard butcher to have it done and not done right . We move into the black market part of it then . Would you rather it be done (if you wanted to) and it is a choice be done buy someone that will do it the right way and not with a coat hanger or a shopvac . And it is a choice for the women and the man to make NOT the state or the government to make .

  • this is a joke says:

Lets go @ this a diff way . I know you will bring up your daughter right but when she turns 18 + she will or will not fallow all the rules and teachings that you have taught her. If one day she gets pregnant and she thinks she is to young for it or not ready @ the time do you not want her to have a choice to do as she wishes .You don’t want her to go on the black market with it do you or if it was her choice would you want her to go to a Dr to help her . Or do you want the government arresting he and forcing her to do something that she does not want to do and charging her with a crime . Please don’t take me wrong that you will not teach her right from wrong . But @ a point she will make her own choices if life .

  • this is a joke says:

CNN is having a story about this right now

  • this is a joke says:

No one is using the word he was murdered the key word is ASSASSIN .

  • Rick says:

BR I personally dont give a rats tail what your personal beliefs are about abortion although you make it quite clear. In your own words you have condoned the murder of an innocent man. Whether you like it or not, abortion is legal. End of freaking story. The doctor may have been a criminal in your opinion. But according to the laws that WE ALL have to live by, he was innocent. You equate him with Suddam and Bin Ladden? So I guess then we should send in the military to wipe out all doctors and nurses that are involved in this practice. Then what? I believe in oregon or Washington state isn’t assisted suicide legal? Lets go get them too. Kill them all…..let God sort them out huh? Now we got rid of all those evil doers…now who? Hey. some states have legalized marriage between same sex people…….lets hunt them down too….Anyone else you want to go after?? Thank God we have laws to (hopefully) protect us from fantatics and those that believe they have the right to take law and order in to their own hands and serve it out where they see fit! Personally this is a joke, I think Dan would give the gunman a medal not the needle.
They say God watches out for fools and idiots…..I would rather he protect me FROM them!!!!

  • Rick says:

One more thing Dan…..In America when we think the laws are wrong we work to change them….not send out assassins or mercenaries. And you said that by stating abortion is legal that I was making it about abortion. I will try to explain this again….Whether you are for or against doesn’t matter. Doctor Tiller was NOT breaking the law! Whether you like the law or not is immaterial. So…..the gunman killed an “innocent” man by the Kasas law. It doesn’t matter whether you think the world is better off or not. You want to change the law then fight for it……LEGALLY!!!

When the laws are changed…then you can prosecute the abortionist….We have laws to protect us…just like there are laws that protect the media….Murder…is against the law. Period. The gunman broke the law.
    Period.

    the power of prayer ;
    DR. Bernard Nathanson

I recall that after Moses killed someone , God had him do a lot of stuff.

Hell ,even Jesus took a whip to the money men in the temple. I would be dam surprised if that was legal.

  • this is a joke says:

OOOOO my Rick on that note time for bed its been a long day even longer now . I do have to say this is one story that will never end . If Dan wants to give him a medal fine or just help pay of his atty. I will pay for the needle. You know I do believe in god but I look after my own 6 when it comes to life . Like your last line .

I created this blog for opinions. I think we can all learn from commenters like Dawn who can disagree without being disagreeable. Obviously Rick is intolerant of my views. That’s fine. I’m comfortable with my belief system. I can sleep at night.
I’m just surprised there are so many liberals on this blog. :-)

  • purple cat says:

Whew! So many opinions and so many judgments. Tiller, the killer, was put to death by a person that was deranged enough to do this act. It’s pretty scary that, in our society, there are many that do horrendous things we wish would not even be possible. Knowing that we are allowed “freedom of speech”, I’m sorry this nut case didn’t go after Fred Phelps and his group, too……and it’s likely to happen some day.

  • jayhawkdandy says:

Rick also said in previous posts that he was not coming back because of the immature posting, but yet feels free to call other’s beliefs ignorant.

The shooter is a murderer, plain and simple. It was pre-meditated. He should be dealt with by society as such. I’m not excusing what Tiller did, I find late term abortion repulsive, but a person doesn’t get to play judge, jury, and executioner.

    Dustin

  • Rick says:

Thank you Dustin, that is all I’ve been trying to say. I respect everyone’s belief on this subject of abortion. I have been around since before Roe v Wade…and in years past I have been in some very heated arguments with others on this subject. I have stopped arguing about the subject of abortion because I have never seen anyone swayed in their opinion of it based on arguing with another person. Each side has their case…both can be equally compelling. It comes down to what each of beiieve in our hearts about the subject. I have not said whether I am for or against, nor will I. its my business and what I think of this matter is really of no concern to anyone else. I say this because I know no one will ever change their views on the matter based on what yours truely thinks.

But we as a society, can not condone murder for what ever reason. If we do, then we as a nation are perhaps no better than some other countries that we consider less civilized than us. Every American is entitled to due process. To a trail with a jury of his peers, to confront their accusers. Dr. Tiller didn’t receive due process. The gunman decided he was above the law, passed his own guilty verdict, sentenced Dr. Tiller to the death penalty and carried out the execution, All on his own.

See Dan, I DO respect your views on abortion. But I won’t praise a man who murders for whatever reason because he thought he was above the law. This is the point I have been trying to make. What I think about Dr. Tiller doesn’t matter. He was murdered. I don’t reward or condone murders . Do you?

  • mom says:

Very few have actually said yea or nea to the abortion issue itself on this thread… although people have ASSUMED. But while everyone is making judgements they also need to realize, that what you THINK you will do in a given situation and what you ACTUALLY do when confronted with that situation are not always the same thing.

No matter how strong your beliefs, fear is a STRONG motivator.

And murder is murder, no matter the age of the victim. We find the death of the younger victims more abhorant so we tolerate it less.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  • Dawn Kramer says:

I haven’t been following the story as much as some may have but I’m wondering if the person had any mental issues. Yes, I know that if you kill someone you probably have mental issues, but I mean documented issues that he was trying to deal with, taking meds for, etc? I’m not saying that having mental issues is a cop out for killing but it really can affect the way you think and act. Has anyone heard if that was the case with this person? I know, I’m probably opening up a whole new can of worms with the mental issue but I am curious about it.

    Dawn

  • Rick says:

I havent heard whether he had any mental issues. And I hope not only for the fact that if he did, I don’t know how it works in Kansas but in many other states the question would be then, where and how did he get a gun? I know in Ohio you have to apply to get a permit to even get a handgun. and then you have to wait 7 days I beieve. And during that time they are doing a back ground check to make sure your not a felon or a mental person for a lack of better way to say it. So I hope he wasn’t being medicated and under treatment for that because then the problem arises, where are the safe gaurds to keep mental patients from aquiring handguns? this would just make a very bad situation even scarier!!! Of course there is the reality that he could have gone to less legal ways to buy one. Like they say, the criminals will always find a way to get the guns…….And please….I’m not trying to start anything on gun control either for or against,.

  • Rick says:

And by the way Dan, do you think I’m a liberal??? LOL!! I have some friends that would seriously tell you otherwise!! HA HA….perhaps I’m mellowing with age!!!

  • Archie Bunker says:

    Rick,

Ease up dude. Up the medication or put down the scotch… seriously. From what I read in Dan’s posts he did not condone Dr. Tiller’s murder, he only disagreed with Kansas’s late term abortion law. You claim over and over again that Dr. Tiller was not breaking the law. That really depends on which part of the law you are talking about. Quite frankly most people who have really looked at the charges Dr. Tiller was facing most recently believe that he did break Kansas abortion statutes and that political pressure was brought to bear which prevented a vigorous prosecution.

Kind of amazing what a large campaign donation will do for you.

Yes, the man who “allegedly” killed Dr. Tiller was a part of the “Freemen Militia” movement a few years ago and was arrested for transporting a homemade explosive device while driving his car with homemade Freemen license plates on it.

FYI Rick, according to our laws, as you say, the man who shot Tiller is still assumed innocent. At least until proven guilty, remember?
