Michael Jackson
Yes he had some unusual habits later in his career to say the least, but if you didn’t think Michael Jackson was cool when he did the moonwalk or threw the hat when he performed Billie Jean at the Apollo anniversary TV show, then you weren’t cool!
It’s too bad that someone with his talent ended up going in a strange direction like he did, but nobody can argue that he was probably the biggest performer the world has ever known and he absolutely changed the music industry.
Thriller is still pretty awesome, no matter what.
So what are your thoughts and memories of Michael?

I remember my sister being obsessed with him. Posters all over the wall, you couldn’t even tell what color her walls were cause of all of them…she was in love
I can remember being completely taken away with the Jackson 5′s music. I think it was some of the first music that I really remember enjoying that was not my parent’s music. Ben, Rockin Robin, ABC. . . I could go on.
Chris….I know, right? I tried calling you as soon as I heard but couldn’t get a hold of you….I didn’t cry but I was totally shocked.
Remember my “I Love Michael” shirt and the going away cake we had and all the pins on my denim jacket? Ah, the good old days!
Dawn
yes, I remember when my daughter had to learn to do the moonwalk for her twirling for a BASKETBALL GAME. Believe it or not I even learn how to do it.
He was a bit strange but we all are in a way . He was a dam good singer and dancer . The sad part is that everyone is going to come out of the wood work and start going give me give me I want this . Even more sad is the kids and what is going to happen to them now ?
Were his kids living with him? I didn’t realize that. Now it seems that there it some controversy over his death, but I haven’t checked it out yet this morning.
I was sorry to see the Farrah died. I’m sure she was suffering quite a bit. I read that her and her boyfriend (can’t remember his name right now) were going to get married….does anyone know if they were able to do that before she passed?
Dawn
You guy’s are just babies… if I dig around in the basement, I might be able to find a … GASP 45 of One Bad Apple
DK , no they never got the chance to do so . Her son was in jail when she passed I hope they let him out for a few to go say buy to his mom. Mom OMG I remember 45′s and I could prob come up with a 8 track somewere to . I have a old Woodstock live LP (the kids have no clue what that is) .
Jackson family wants a 2nd autopsy done . I think he OD on drugs ( not street drugs) or was given the wrong combo of them . But time will tell soon .

Everyone is dropping dead what the hell is going on .
No doubt about his talent but what a sad, screwed up life he led. His father was no better than a pimp, putting his kids on stage for his own financial gain with little consideration for how it would affect the boys. If it was one of our grandkids the idiot was hanging out of an upper story window or if he was sleeping with little kids in Washington County, we wouldn’t be praising him. I’ll give him one thing, he underwent an amazing transformation – he went from a poor black male to a rich white female.
I guess I wasn’t cool, because although I thought he was cute in the Jackson Five, after he grew up…well, got older anyway…I didn’t care much for him. But then, to me and to many millions of other people, no one will top the King, Elvis Presley as the greatest performer. Each person has his favorite. Sometimes that favorite changes, sometimes it is a lifetime devotion. I’m not crazy about the jokes that are going around about the deaths of Jackson and Fawcett. I think they are in very poor taste. But nothing seems to be sacred anymore..not even death.
His music makes me want to dance! He was a great performer and I think he lost touch with reality. His whole life was on stage and as a famous person. He would have disappeared into the background in the days before tabloid journalism was so common. I feel bad for his kids to grow up without their father but hopefully his death finally brought him peace.
Listening to Thriller right now… still don’t really like it.
Just as I remembered from the day I guess.
Oh how I loved Michael Jackson when I was in JR High…..I was in his fan club and even wrote him a letter when he burned his hand filming Pepsi commercial. He was an awsome performer and singer.
Maybe he didn’t have a chance, being so publicly displayed for so many years. That is in his defense, however the guy turned out to be a crotch grabbing, suspected pedophile, that was (I guess) ashamed of his race, and his appearance….he turned just plain bizarre, whether you liked his talent for singing and dancing, or not. You don’t sleep with small boys, or monkeys for that matter, and not be considered a lot over the line toward “strange”.
I guess its okay to be a petafile if your famous!! Its okay to dye your skin another color if your famous!! Things the “famous” people can do and everyone is okay with it…oh the media, oh he was depressed…oh this and oh that!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! It doesnt give him the right to mess around with little children. You people were so worried about the sexual aggrivation around here a couple weeks ago but YOUR OKAY WITH A PETAFILE?!
I’ve always enjoy MJ’s music and dancing. I may not have always agreed with his personal life but it was his to live and not mine. I have to make a comment to not from around here. If I remember right, he was found Not Guilty by a jury of his peers. I’m not saying he did or did not do it. But if the court found him innocent then we have no right to keep prosecuting him for it and labeling him as anything. I know if I had been accused of something and went to court and was found not guilty I wouldn’t want people to keep throwing it in my face. If I made you mad with that statement, I apologize, but that is just my personal feelings. I guess I still believe in the court system and not the court of public opinion.
Is a PETafile someone who abuses pets? As oppsed to a PEDophile who abuses children?
Yeah, I know my typo/poor spelling is there
to “mom”….dont correct my spelling when you can’t even spell yourself.

to “mom”….dont correct my spelling when you can’t even spell yourself.
What words did she mispell?
she wrote oppsed…its supposed to be opposed
BIMJ,
She spelled opposed as oppsed, but she caught it herself and said something about it.
I have to agree with Mary. As much as I thought he should have been found guilty, OJ should have been found guilty and a bunch of other people in this world that should have been found guilty, they weren’t (well OJ was for later charges). They were found innocent by a jury of their peers and because we live here we must abide by that ruling. Also, because of what we embrace, once someone has served their time, we should accept that and move on. I understand (more than most know) that this is much easier to say then to do and believe me when I tell you that I struggle with this, but it’s a fact of our lives that this is the way we should do it.
We’ve had accused pedophiles in our own communities, and some that are registered sex offenders, but we don’t say near as much about them because they aren’t famous, but as far as I’m concerned they pose a much greater risk to us than MJ. First the chances of my children ever coming in contact with MJ was slim and then me allowing them to stay with him…well, just let me just say that it would be a cold day in hell.
I know that the people who are registered sex offenders have served their time and paid for their crime and continue to do so with the registration and I just preached that we shouldn’t keep persecuting them, but I will admit to having fears about them. I do not believe that spending time in prison will habilitate anyone who commites this type of crime (this includes rape). To me it’s a lot like alcoholism (and my no means am I saying the alcoholics are criminals like these people) because a “recovered” alcoholic is still an alcoholic and there is the chance that they may be overcome by the urge to drink and may subcome to it. I believe pedophiles and rapists are the same. They can try to ignore the urge but there is a chance that they choose not to and it happens again.
Pretty scary stuff, huh?
Dawn
not convinced dawn but thanks for the novel
NFH,
I wasn’t trying to convince anyone of anything. I was merely giving my thoughts. Sorry it was so long, I didn’t realize we had a maximum number of letters.
Thanks for making me feel bad about sharing my thoughts and making me feel like what I think or say is unimportant.
Dawn
Dawn we still love you ok .
I honestly believe that it is very important that we all have the oportunity to share our opinions. However, I’ve noticed that when somebody shares an opinion that may not agree with somebody elses (over even the slightest disagreement) we stoop to the lowest insults we can think of. Dawn you’ve made some very good points and I agree with most of them. Keep up the good work. I think that if i disagreed to a certain point I would write in and give you my points as to why I feel the way I feel…not bash your spelling or the length of your pararaph. If somebody doesn’t have a good argument, it’ll show but then to go ahead and back it up with ignorance.
TIAJ and Young,
Thanks so much, I really appreciate what you both said.
Dawn
young
we all have bad days on here and have said things we wish we hadnt but that is the power of the written word on the intenet once you put it out there it is there to stay sorry if i offended you by calling out the difference in the prefix of the two words i actually didnt remark on the spelling and as ive said on here more than once my spelling is nothing to brag about it is easy to be a little harsh when you are tired which is usually the case for me as i dont keep normal people hours
P.S. Above is JUST A JOKE!!! PLEASE don’t take offense at it.
Mom,
I want normal people hours too….Actually, I guess I want to know what normal people hours are. I swear, I feel like I’m always awake. First let me state – I Am Not Bashing Men – that being said, I have noticed in my own house and from what some other mom’s have told me – Why is it that when we become mom’s we are on duty 24/7 but it seems like some of the men aren’t. my youngest is almost 13 and to this day a cough heard upstairs in the middle of the night can wake me up but Tim can sleep through the tornado sirens…..crazy
Dawn
Dawn — I enjoy reading what you write. I may not agree with everything you say, but I like how you state your opinions.
Waking up because of kids in the middle of the night is a mom thing. However to be fair, my husband appears to have an instinct when bad weather is on the way in the middle of the night. I’ve slept through thunderstorms but he’s checking the radar and the sky in case we all need to head to the storm shelter. However, when our kids were young, he’d sleep through the babies waking up and the kids coughing.
Mom…
lol.
I wasn’t exactly refering to you! I enjoy reading your posts as well. I think that if somebody has a legitamate argument they should have enough common sense to be able to spell, If they’re trying to make a point and can’t spell important things regarding that point…they sounds stupid and nobody is going to take them seriously. i.e. petaphile
And to all “moms” as far as normal people hours are concerned I can’t say I know first hand what its like but my mom is the same way. I don’t tell her enough how much she does for our family so I thought I’de give you guys kudos! Im sure your doing great and, like mine, your fam. might not tell you as much as they would like, but it doesn’t mean they arent thinking it!! You have my respect!!
I just would like to point out that “Not from Here” and “No, I’m not from around here” are not the same. I get in enough trouble on my own and was startled when I saw “Not from Here” – I hope you all haven’t thought it was me saying that!!
