Martin is Big 12 coach of the year, and has a good backstory

I am not a K-State basketball fan, but I agree that K-State head mens basketball coach Frank Martin should have been named the Big 12 coach of the year. He got that honor today and also received a contract extension and raise from K-State, pretty much doubling his salary.
Turns out he has a pretty good backstory too. Gotta respect the man and his ability.
I was kind of wondering if K-State would give him the raise he deserved. If not, I bet he would’ve been a prime target on many schools’ head coach lists. He might still be a target, but K-State may have given him the raise needed to get him to stay. We’ll see.

I like Frank, mainly for his semi-lunatic antics, but he also seems like a good coach.
Bill Self and him are friends, kinda an odd couple.
Miami will probably still make a strong push for him this offseason, but I bet he stays.
He’s a good coach and I dont think he will go anywhere K-STATE Gave him a chance and he appreciates that!
Normally I’d agree with the concept that K-State gave him a chance. But Huggins came to K-State when they gave him a chance and he left a year later. K-State fans are probably just fine with how it all worked out in the end, but at the time, there were Huggieville shirts being burned.
So you never know.

I have no qualms with Frank Martin, nor Missouri’s Mike Anderson. I never thought I’d say I was a fan of a Wildcat and a Tiger. Speaking of Tigers, this alum is proud of your substate efforts, Mr. Habr.
Who am I supposed to abandon? I’ve been following my specific teams for almost 20 years. If I were to abandon one now, which I don’t want to do, I think it’d be tackier than following two schools. I’m comfortable with it, so nothing’s going to change.

I agree Dan…I am a fan of KANSAS!! I dont mean just Jayhawks…i mean both of our Kansas Teams. You dont have to pick A team. The whole KU KSU thing becomes childish anyways a lot of the times. You all should be VERY proud of your state this year!!
Right. And I think most Kansans root for Wichita State baseball when they’re on a roll, and I think people paid close attention to the women’s teams at Emporia State and Washburn when they were on a roll a few years back.
Heck, I’d rather any Kansas-based team beat a Texas or Florida team!!
