Wasinger for Congress
There are six Republican candidates running for Congressman Moran’s first district seat (since Moran is running for the U.S. Senate.)
Several of the candidates seem to have almost equal qualifications and similar views on the issues. It is not easy to separate one from the other if you are just looking at voting records or bullet points on campaign websites. So at that point, you have to use other reasons to choose a candidate.
The first district is a large, diverse district with a wide array of issues affecting its constituents. What we need in a Congressman is someone who knows the issues that affect Washington Countians, but also knows how to get work done on those issues in Washington, D.C.
Rob Wasinger is that candidate.
Wasinger is from Hays originally and now lives in Cottonwood Falls (gotta like the choice to live in a small town.)
He has visited Washington County four times during his campaign, more than any other candidate running for Congress (or any elected office for that matter.) He is familiar with the issues that are important to us, because he has knocked on more than 25,000 doors during the campaign and has heard loud and clear what is important to us.
When elected, he would be able to hit the ground running in Washington, D.C., because he has spent plenty of time working there, most recently as Senator Sam Brownback’s Chief of Staff.
With the declining population base we have in rural Kansas, and therefore declining representation on the national stage, we can’t afford to elect someone who needs a learning curve at Washington, D.C. The next two years are far too important for Kansas, for the Republican Party and for the nation.
He is the conservative candidate that can get the job done for us in Washington, D.C., and he is ready to fight for us. As it says on his web site:
“Kansas values are worth fighting for.
Small town America is worth fighting for.
The people of Kansas are worth fighting for.”
And in my opinion, Rob Wasinger is worth voting for.
Please vote for Rob Wasinger in Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election.

I am on Rob’s Health Care Advisory Team. I do not agree with him on every issue, far from it. But then again I never have yet found a candidate I agree with 100%.
The reason I am supporting Rob is very simple. He is 100% serious about doing what is neccesary to repopulate counties like ours. He is leading the charge in the idea of a New Homestead Act which would allow tax breaks for individuals and businesses wishing to relocate back to out-migrated areas. This also includes student loan forgiveness.
I know that when we came back last year, we took a huge gamble. However we already had an established business to take over and job opportunities for myself if the pharmacy fell through. I have talked to several friends who would like to move back, but can’t because of needed a higher paying job to pay off those student loans, the lack of housing, and the sense that eventually the area may dry up to where it is no longer feasible to keep a business running.
Rob seems like he has a feasible plan to address this issue. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. But I’m willing to support him just for the fact that he is actually working to try something.
That being said, it’s on all of us to encourage our friends and family to take that chance to come back. We have an absolutely wonderful place to live, I’m convinced there is no better place. Let’s work to keep it there.

Dan and Dustin, I am honored to have your endorsements. Thank you for all your support. Onward to Victory!
I to am voting for Wasinger. Brownback lost my vote when he voted last Friday to cut social security and allow illegal immigrants.
I am curious though, what exactly is the student loan forgiveness? Might be helpeful to me!!
Dan — Now that Team Wasinger was allegedly caught on video removing political signs of their opponent (and summarily threatened a lawsuit should the video be aired on the Internet), does that change your thinking?
I don’t really care about the sign stealing. That is a dumb decision by kids who are acting in the midst of a stressful campaign.
I’m more pissed about the threat of lawsuits that got the video pulled.
Dan — Stealing signs might seem innocuous but it’s a violation of campaign ethics as well as stifling free speech. The heart of the matter is how Wasinger reacted to the revelation. Instead of pleading youthful indiscretion he threatened litigation. And that speaks volumes.
Yet another display of individuals wanting to choose which laws should be abided by and which aren’t worth caring about.

The individuals were kids, though, and they just made a bad decision, in my opinion. I’m not necessarily ready to throw the book at them.
